never mind the topo map we have on qob (i'm so happy with that), zid is a breathing assistant. what you seeing is a speed up video of a 5 minute break... the orange light interpolates till the fade, purple blinks once and stays - you gotta signal via the pie-menu you'll start another session!

at the same pie-menu we also have some breathing patterns with specific effects proved by science, here the box/square breathing, which the primary benefit is acute composure under high stress - through the mechanism of equalizing phases to prevent hyperventilation, while dual retentions dampen amygdala reactivity during high-arousal tasks

video at 2x speed, each box breathe has 16 seconds of duration

as you can guess, green for inhale, blue for hold, red for exhale and no light for hold (empty) - zid was my second Arduino project, once i published a initial tinker at Codeberg, i moved back from the dad's office (i drilled a hole into the wall, installed a hammock and declared from now that would be my bedroom)

no, the 3D printer was just there for a day... beyond only using natural PLA, i'm still skeptical it's safe, even with the window open, much less on that amount of space

so after some months sleeping there, i returned to my bedroom and the LED pointing at the wall wasn't strong enough. i decided to turn zid into a (friend) mushroom or a jellyfish

the mesh now fits perfect my laptop screen, as a hook, that's now adapted with a double-sided tape to fit my new monitor (much thicker than my laptop screen)

the use of superfluous hardware isn't a permacomputing concept. zid can perfectly fit into a python script which brings a OS warning about a break, like workrave does or even GNOME barebones implementation at the Well Being section (it counts time right after the break even if you are away)... breathing patterns are a simple color interpolation in a window that dissapears when your are tired of a guided meditation. i still have the rubber that generates electric signal for a DIY breathing pattern device checking screen apnea, anxiety or even stress. breathing is a pretty solid bio-marker for that. sewing some cotton strip and a jack around this silicone is cheap. i'll work on it one day. now what the heck is the cyber-deck scene. non-ergonomic devices which basically are much less efficient than an Android running X11 inside Termux. Ploppy and Framework high prices when you can just buy a second hand Acer laptop from 2018, play a lot of indie video-games (i develop qob on one of these by the way) and basically except the screen and the keyboard is replaceable by anyone. given popular models, a second hand screen in case you burned yours is cheap, any repair shop can do it for you. i would believe Apple has more points on being green by zero-carbon production on their chains and a better tackle in conflict minerals than Fairphone. people from the future either scrape old hardware by ignoring the fancy AAA graphics and bloated electron graphics rolling around or they buy new stuff when there's no option with your old one, like my previous laptop i got when i was 14 years old and the GPU melted into the motherboard because i never opened to clean and gosh, so many punches into the keyboard for getting stressed into League of Legends! it lasted almost 9 years
