every time i fantasize something, i usually do it maxxing, e.g. this morning i was swiping on Tinder till i found the love of my life. mom was also at the table breakfasting and i showed her my wife (before i super-likkiing). mom asked her name and i said Johanna. she looked at me and made a sound like IIIIIIIIII. then says: you must have problems with the letter G. i refuted with IT STARTS WITH J. nothing can ruin a dreamer's life. the day barely started and i found the love of my life. she likes sailing. has a melting-heart smile and geometry of someone who can receive cuddles all day long. she likes wine and i can ferment myself. probably my profile will never be shown to such a baddie. Norway makes me fall in love once each week
when i was a courier i already had the idea of making a video-game, as i typed somewhere in this blog - since i'm not an visual artist, the way i rely on making someone feeling something is through extensive persistence. i took photos of cars and i put them in a canvas of 127x72 px, i like the pixel-art style but it was also a decision to keep it light. i converted DOZENS of vehicles. one example which i made yesterday, as i typed on happort too, that i deleteded all my stuff and the last time i made it, was around the first months of learning gamedev.! no big deal, i was exploring and thinking how art on this game should be. of course my photos weren't took with a fish-eye lens, so excuse me the distortion
it was meant to be an auto-biographical video-game. i would talk about cycle touring adventures through pixel-art. at some point i thought a blog would be better and at some point i stepped back into the idea and thought maybe i could mix sci-fi elements. watching documentaries about fiction and reality at the same time was one of the highlights i had when exploring cinema. i came up with this, lied at my sleeping pad, inside my bedroom, because for months i slept in my floor just to get used to the road and wild camping. cold baths and 04:00 alarms. the app i used was Pixly, which unfortunately isn't on Google Store... probably the best editor Android had on that time (you can run GIMP with Termux X11 these days). i came up with something like this
and soon i was thinking about a nerd and pixel-perfect 2D platform
when i started with Blender, before the donutmaxxing, luckily i had some experience on version 2.79. just as the 1° time i booted into a modeling software, i tried to find my way and extruding and moving faces is quite expressive. i decided that my art would be about a simplification of reality, not only for performance on low-end hardware (shame on my code guys) but as well for quick a ship of the first release. of course i went after > 300 books and > 300 fruits and too many spectrometry machines (which by the amount, some had to go into a /temp folder for a hopeful expansion where we extend the laboratory or just add to o-bots (internal doc. slang to bots which aren't controlled by player)) laboratories. these were my initial prototypes
when i realized that if qob gains traction and a fan-base arises, modeling new stuff is somehow simple and doesn't require much knowledge, soon i started to dream about frameworks for planets, plot, creature behavior and with the advent of LLMs nowadays it's easy as walking around the town and sending a SSH command "create a @spells.md which increases bot's movement efficiency by 5.0 points for 256 seconds, make it throw-able and only successful if the target doesn't have any buff, export the gain and mana use in the script" - the document referenced is an ~ 840 line guideline explaining to the machine the spell paradigm and all the script helpers locations, as well stress tests for a bug-free creation straight out of the box. we can go wild as "create a spell which is throw-able but doesn't have any projection draw! also prevents any buff from allowing projection visualization" or "(cone) area spell which removes for 35 seconds the gravity/fall speed influence on jump impulses. make it only valid on the 3° jump. bots which don't have the 3° extra-jump don't receive the buff". we even have a script paradigm for chats, which can set bots to move somewhere or execute actions of some item in the scene. shame on me for not believing on violence. my high joy would be liberating all of this under GPLv3 and show already what's done and even ask for help but harmonik is where my dream lives. it would hurt more seeing someone adding a lightsaber and kill-able spiders than Johanna going to the moon to live there (she's an astronaut) forever. qob it's not a complete software but it's gaining form
i hope at least you laughed about my preference of avoiding textures by abusing the knife tool to draw on faces (not done in much stuff, mostly at the board-games)... a rookie thinking about optimization and cannabis and jazz on their bedroom sometimes it's bad a deal! most outdoors and indoors colors are from 3 materials: colors, metallic and glass, all of them use the same texture. stuff loads pretty fast and we have a HexTex color picker which references the .png with our colors by now... painting is a breeze with some goodies like selecting an area of the color wheel into random selected faces, useful for vegetation and flirting with that Norway scientist that for sure will fall in love with me when i start booting the bytes long and expressive instruments of Csound, already running into the project and doing TUM TUM or SHHHH when sliding over sand and steps sounds and the wheel of the vehicle. JOHANNA COME ONE, WE DON'T EVEN NEED TO DEAL WITH .WAV FILES BECAUSE SENDING EVENTS TO AN ALREADY RUNNING INSTANCE OF CSOUND IS SO CHEAP AND FAST! thanks once again Werner for godot-csound
